FGL, together with HBCUs, will plant the seeds of gifting importance early, starting at orientation freshman year and again senior year. As alumni, the seed that was planted 4+ years prior will begin to harvest.

This includes NFL alumni such as Robert “BOB” Johnson of the Dallas Cowboys and Donnell Woolford of the Chicago Bears. They have formed essential HBCU Programs.

Robert L. Johnson

Robert L. "Bob" Johnson is a South Carolina native and alum of both Johnson C. Smith University and Belmont Abbey College. With a Bachelor’s degree concentrated in marketing & accounting, Johnson has spent the last 50 years of his life utilizing his education, athletic career, sales experience, and religious community to help improve the lives of others around him. The product of an HBCU, he has seen first-hand the impact attending such a prestigious university had on his life and what it could do for the next generation.

As a drafted free agent of the Dallas Cowboys and NFL Alumni Association Member, Johnson’s vision is simple: empower those within his network and beyond to give back to their educational institutions. As a husband, father, and grandfather, Robert’s legacy is solidified, but his desire to help extends onward, now fueled by HBCU Pay It Forward.
